SEEING YOUR LIFE THROUGH THE LENS OF THE GOSPEL- LUKE 9:18-24
ú The message of Jesus was not addressed just to his chosen twelve but ‘to all’. Perhaps you also have found that it is a fact of life that we often have to pay in effort, time or patience, to experience growth, progress and the good things in life. Can you bring specific experiences to mind?
QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK:
Q. What did Jesus mean in saying ‘Anyone who wants to save his life will lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake will save it?
A. Here is a very important message for the people of our time. One of the fundamental errors of our age is the exaggerated focus on self-seeking, putting me at the centre of everything. Jesus regarded self-seeking as a disastrous programme for life. But self-denial in the service of love is the sure way to develop our human potential and reach deep fulfilment in life. It is in giving that we receive. Fr. Silvester O’Flynn OFM Cap.
